Perhaps One Day (II) [Dec. 30th, 2008|11:32 am]
Sit the way you did once
Before arrogance
Perhaps, impatience
Maybe even, isolation
Expelled the bodies possessed
Into one another

Perhaps One Day... [Dec. 9th, 2008|01:10 pm]
...these may become coherent, but that day certainly isn't today:

And would you feel no shame, wearing belief on your sleeve, while your hands clap and your lips roar as your daughters are whored?

I go to find the boy king, the infant god, sent away by men nourished by greed. He sits in a garden he made bloom, playing as any child would. He speaks into the wind, and laughs at the breeze and I wonder, is god ever lonely?

Tell no one of this, but in a drift you caught a whiff of the night before...

We'd wake and go on our way but later, as your head hits your pillow, you'd catch my scent from tonight.

• Trip to the beach
• Yoda rucksack
• Bespoke cheongsam
• HD TV
• 0.5 carat diamond solitaire earrings (that's 1 carat in total)
• Trip to South America
• Trip to Iceland - in time for Northern Lights please
• Redecorated bedroom with enough storage for books, CDs, DVDs, shoes, bags and hats
• 16GB iPod Nano (in dark grey or pink) - am using Lindy's 2GB one which is fine but a little more space would be nice

[Music |The Weather - Built to Spill]

Do you want in to the outside
The cool night
Where the stars gravitate toward you
Do you want in to the outside
The cool night
Where the fog wraps itself around you
Do you want in to the outside
The sunshine
Where the clouds take their places for you

And the wind and snow, and the rain that blows
None of those would matter much without you

As long as it’s talking with you,
Talk of the weather will do.

Do you want in to the outside
The cool night
Where the stars gravitate toward you
Do you want in to the outside
The sunshine
Where the song keeps itself inside you

And the wind and snow and the rain that blows
None of those would matter much without you

Nobody’s hoping for better days
No one knows what to do.
You’re okay in your secret place,
With no one bothering you.
It might save time if I meet you there, but I don’t care
I’d rather wait for you.
When no one’s home and the weather’s fine,
I’d rather wait for you.
When no one’s home and the weather’s fine,
I’d rather wait for you.

Ash [Oct. 3rd, 2008|12:36 am]
[Mood |besotted]

This evening I went to see Ash, and oh how the 14 year old in me swooned, they're probably the only band that I can safely say accompanied me through adolescence.

Oh how they made my hair stand when they played the tunes off 1977, and better yet, Jack Names the Planets! For all the journeys to and from school, for all the magazine clippings hoarded, for the innumerable times I've played air guitar! And all the later material - for driving into the city on Sunday afternoons, for hanging out in shoe stores, for running to Tower after class, for driving through England to Scotland, for trampolining by the pool in the summer sun!

And Tim, I swear he saw me in the crowd for when I blew him a kisses he blew them back. 13 years on, I still want to marry him.

The F1 is finally over, hallelujah!

1. Capitalism - contributions to the state's economy / putting independent vendors out of business for the weekend so franchises may operate in their spaces making ridiculous profits - $90 children's t-shirts, $6 Magnums, $3 Coca-Colas, $8 Loy Kee chicken rice, $5 ice kacang / probably the only sport where commercial brand names literally compete

2. Environment - carbon footprint

3. Feminism, or lack thereof - objectification of race queens

Now, before I get crucified, for the record, I totally understand why people love it. Those things are probably what makes it so exciting. Perhaps I'm feeling particularly anarchic, perhaps I just don't get it, perhaps I'm really just a hippie.

[Mood |wired]

It's been a bastard long day and my body wants to shut down but my mind is still going. The day looked like it was going to go fine until incompetency took control for a bit but eventually things went swimmingly and I was happy again.

The Wailers were (mostly) cool and played a wicked set. Their guitarist happened to be someone I worked with last year and I asked after a particular person and we had a wee laugh and it all very nice in the end, thank you Jah. Some drunk ang moh twice my size looked like he was going to invade the stage and I had my eye on him thinking there's no way I could take him but once he's on stage, I'm going to go for it. Sometimes I'm too ambitious.

My boys were happy and the bands were happy, except one that fell victim to incompetency but we knew we were all in the same boat and we get to give them the show they deserve tomorrow so I'm quite pleased and I think I'm going to miss doing all this.

Formula One [Sep. 27th, 2008|01:17 am]
I, unfortunately, work within the 'race park' and am rather disgruntled with the F1 shenanigans thus far:

1. I can't get to/from work the way I like to because they've closed all the roads and I have to get on the trains, which I generally dislike and I have to take a ridiculously long detour to between the station and the office.

2. Having to do battle with crowds, some of which are the 2 million volunteers in Singapore GP t-shirts who seem to only travel in packs very slowly, meaning they get in my way. And then there are the spectator twats who decide they will stand on an already narrow overhead bridge staircase, henceforth causing a bottleneck. Where the fuck are those 2 million aforementioned volunteers? Can't one of them be a traffic marshall?

3. Needing a separate pass to get into work. That's fine except it says 'No Access'. If you do what I do, and are familiar with all access passes, your ego would be insulted too.

Tomorrow morning, I have the Wailers, amongst others. Everyone's quite excited about it but they fail to realise that perhaps only one member actually worked by St. Bob. Also, in my experience, Rastafarians hardly have a good time in Singapore, nudge nudge wink wink, so I'm getting prepared for a long day.

Wish me luck, Jah bless!
